Samsung Electronics Co., the world's third-largest handset maker, said Monday it has developed a new mobile phone, which it claims is the slimmest in the world.
The SGH-X820 model, which has a width of only 6.9 millimeters, is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3 player and a video-recording capability, Samsung Electronics said in a statement.
Pricing details were not disclosed.
The phone will be showcased at a telecom industry fair this week in Russia, called Sviaz Expocomm 2006, the Korean company said.
Samsung Electronics has launched a set of ultra-thin handsets after its bigger rival Motorola Inc. of the United States experienced runaway success with its popular Razr models.
