LG's sales in Korea outperform Samsung's by about US$1 million this year
Samsung Electronics ranked first in the global television market so far this year, but LG Electronics fared better in the local market. According to industry reports, LG Electronics sold 810 billion won (US$821 million) worth of TV sets during the first nine months of the year, outperforming Samsung by about 100 billion won in sales. LG Electronics' TV sales grew 45 percent from a year earlier, while Samsung saw its sales climb by 37 percent during the cited period, the reports showed. LG maintained No. 1 status in the local market for the first three quarters of this year. LG officials said that its brisk performance is mainly thanks to successful marketing of its hit product, "Time Machine TVs."Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics ranked first in the global TV market, making up 15.2 percent of global TV consumption.
