Samsung Electronics surpassed Intel to become the world’s leading supplier of semiconductors, the first time the US-company has failed to hold the top spot since 1992. The technology research firm Gartner reported that Samsung Electronics now accounts for 14.6% of global semiconductor sales, with $61.2 billion in revenue. This was a 52.6% increase in semiconductor sales from the previous year. SK Hynix, another major producer of semiconductors, placed third with $26.3 billion in sales. (Hankyoreh Archive photo)
