South Korean startup companies are beginning sales of the country’s first mini-electric cars. TMon’s Danigo model, a two-seat vehicle was designed by Daechang motors, is expected to be available to customers for between five and six million won (US$4700-$5600). A spokesman for TMon announced on Jan. 11 that the company will make pre-sales available to the public until Jan 31. Although the actual price of the car is nearly 15 million won (US$14,100) subsides from the national and local governments will allow TMon to sell vehicles much more cheaply to consumers. TMon also announced that it will give a 100,000 won (US$90) cash rebate. The car can reach a top speed of 80 km/h and travel 100 km on a full charge.
