Hyundai Kia Automotive Group has entered a strategic alliance with Google to develop an Android Auto, a car-compatible operating system, for the South Korean market. Android Auto is one of the premier forms of in-vehicle infotainment, based on the idea of converting the apps and capability of a smartphone into a consul that’s compatible to a car’s dashboard. The system has features such as voice activation, GPS tracking, internet searches, phone calls and texts, and Google maps. Android Auto was applied to the Hyundai Sonata model in 2015, and has since become available throughout the US and Europe, but it has yet to be applied to cars available in the South Korean market.
