[Photo] Sales of solar panels skyrocket amid concerns over electricity costs

The scorching summer of 2018, in which the Korean Peninsula saw record highs in temperature, has left many people concerned with electricity costs. With people seeking to save money at any turn, many are turning to solar panel technology. According to several e-commerce platforms, sales for solar panels and other solar energy devices skyrocketed compared to the same period last year. Sales for solar panels from July 21 to Aug. 20 on the platform 11street increased by as much as 715 percent. The site Auction saw a 120 percent increase in sales of solar panels and an increase of 125 percent in solar-powered fans.
