LG Electronics launched its new smartphone model the V40 ThinQ on Oct. 4 at LG Science Park in Seoul. The electronics giant’s newest smartphone comes with a total of 5 cameras, two on the front side and three on the back—indicating the firm’s reliance on camera technology in their new strategy against competitors. The V40 ThinQ will be available to the South Korean market in mid-October, and will compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 and Apple’s iPhone XS. The emphasis on camera technology can be seen as a reflection of the increasing frequency with which smartphone users are taking photos and uploading them onto social media platforms.
