[Photo] BMW Korea fined US$12.9 million for falsifying emissions reports

For manipulating emissions reports and covering up vehicle defects that led to a series of car fires, BMW Korea has been fined 14.5 billion won (US$12.9 million). Furthermore, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced six of its eight executives to prison for violating customs laws and the Clean Air Conservation Act. Hon. Judge Kim Hyeon-deok announced the ruling on Jan. 10, effectively sentencing the executives to up to 10 months behind bars.
