Samsung Electronics faces another fiasco following technical defects leading to a delay in the launch of the Galaxy Fold, its newest smartphone and the company’s first smartphone with a foldable screen, on Apr. 26. Uniloc, a computer security and copy protection software company founded in Australia, has filed a lawsuit against Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S10 5G models for patent infringement. Uniloc’s patent claims are related to Android Beam, a feature for sharing content between two devices via near field communication (NFC) technology. Uniloc is notorious for its abstract patents, and has been deemed a “patent troll” by many industry insiders.
