[Photo] North Gyeongsang Province order 10-day suspension of POSCO for illegal pollution

The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office has ordered Pohang Steel Company (POSCO) to suspend operations for 10 days following the company’s unauthorized emission of atmospheric pollutants. On May 27, the office announced that the steel mill performed repair work on its shaft furnaces without the proper safety values (known as “breathers”) that prevent unnecessary air pollution. In response, POSCO has announced that it will submit a document detailing an explanation as to why it was impossible to apply breathers at the time.
