South Korea experienced its first account deficit in 7 years in April 2019, according to the Bank of Korea. The deficit of US$660 million was in stark contrast to the US$4.82 billion surplus from just one month earlier. The main causes were determined to be a sharp decrease in exports and a seasonal flurry of dividend transfers.
