The cost of groceries and foodstuffs in Seoul has been ranked the sixth highest in the world, beating the likes of New York and Tokyo. Numbeo, a global database containing comparative statistics of various cities, gave the cost of grocery shopping in Seoul an index of 105.01, ranking it sixth among 375 cities and making it 5.01% more expensive than grocery shopping in New York. Costs for food items such as meat, vegetables, and fruit were the main factors.
