Amid a national boycott movement against Japanese products, Japanese beers have fallen outside the top 10 for imported beers in the South Korean market. According to the Korea Customs Service, Japanese beers ranked 13th in sales in South Korea’s imported beer market, as of Sept. 16. This is a drastic change, as Japanese beers remained in the market’s top spot for over 10 years before that. The plunge in Japanese beers has allowed Chinese beers to take the market’s top spot, followed by beers from the Netherlands and Belgium.
