South Korea's human rights Ambassador Park Kyung-seo will attend a forthcoming international conference on North Korean human rights, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
Park will join the 7th international conference on North Korean human rights and refugees to take place in Bergen, Norway, from May 9-11, it said.
"Park will explain the government's position on the issue," a Foreign Ministry official said.
It is the first time for Seoul to dispatch a senior government official to the conference co-organized by the Rafto Human Rights House, a Norway human rights group, and the Citizen's Alliance for North Korean Human Rights based in Seoul.
Also on hand at the forum will be Vitit Muntabrbhorn, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in North Korea, and Fumiko Saiga, Japan's Ambassador for North Korean human rights issue, according to organizers.
