Sacrifices made in the name of independence

There’s a monster lurking around in the form of a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States.

President Roh Moo-hyun looks upon an innocent young person with the words "four major prerequisites" and says, in an avuncular tone, "Independent pro-Americanism is being pro-American from a sovereign position. Now go and sacrifice yourself."

Earlier this year, the United States set four preconditions for starting FTA talks, and the Roh government hastily agreed to them.
