The thin walls and ceilings of Korean apartment buildings often create problems. For example, when children bounce around in the apartment directly above your own.
The way popular culture in Korea moves collectively, suddenly, and in limited directions, as well as the internet culture here, share a similar lack of depth, as in the thin apartment walls. Cases in point are the current excessive interest in the film "The Host" and in talking about "doenjangnyeo," women who are criticized on the internet for excessive vanity and lack of substance.
