Prize-winning works of 2005 screened on Internet

The Seoul Independent Film Festival (SIFF) and Korean Film Archive (KOFA) will hold an online screening 2005’s prize-winning works in 2005. This event continues for eight weeks from October 2.

Regarding the purpose of the event, the SIFF said, "By presenting independent movies that moviegoers can enjoy easily on the Internet, we will provide the viewers with the opportunity to watch independent films and expand the audience into various regions and age groups."

Through the event, independent movie fans can re-enjoy the grand prize-winning work, "Annyong Sayonara" which attracted much attention in South Korea and Japan last year. The 100-minute documentary highlighted the unresolved past between South Korea and Japan, and showed a possible new start between the two nations to begin moving toward a peaceful future. The film was made in 2005, a year to mark the 60th anniversary of South Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule and the end of the war in the Pacific.

To be screened are ’Slowly’ by Kim Jong-kwan, ’Ten Oxherding Pictures #2-Seeing the Footprints’ by Lee Ji-sang, ’A Great Actor’ by Shin Yeon-shick, ’Stand by Me’ by Che Ji-young, ’Geo-lobotomy’ by Kim Sun and Kim Gok, ’Always Behind You’ by Yang Ik-june, ’Where to?’ by Bae Sung-geun, ’Glasshouse’ by Kim Aaron, ’Go Out’ by Lee Jong-yoon, ’Weird Spring’ by Park Sung-yong and ’A Beautiful Wife’ by Lee You-rim.

The films are in Korean without English subtitles, and will be presented for free. For more information, visit the Internet sites of the KFFA (www.koreafilm.or.kr) and SIFF (www.siff.or.kr).
