Kim Il, a legendary Korean pro wrestler, died Thursday of chronic diseases in Seoul, his doctor said. Kim was 77.
Kim had long suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure and heart troubles.
Kim entered pro-wrestling circles in 1957 and became the world heavyweight champion in 1963.
Knocking down bulky foreign wrestlers with his trademark head-butt in the ring, he was a popular idol and was regarded as a national hero in the 1960s and 1970s. Seoul, Oct. 26 (Yonhap News)
