South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-na won a gold medal in the fourth of the six-round ISU Grand Prix figure skating series held in Paris on Saturday, claiming her first senior title.
The 16-year-old Kim, the most promising figure skater the country has ever produced, took the Trophee Bompard, beating Japan's Miki Ando. World Champion Kimmie Meissner of the United States took the bronze.
Kim scored 184.54 points overall from the two rounds, Ando achieved 174.44 and Meissner 158.03.
Kim, a three-time South Korean national champion, became the first Korean to win an ISU championship at the 2006 World Junior Championships.
The final two events in the six-leg Grand Prix series are the Cup of Russia in Moscow next weekend and the NHK Trophy in Nagano, Japan later this month.
