A traditional pleasure boat makes its inagural trip, plying the waters of a pond at Joseon-era Gyeongbok Palace, central Seoul, on January 1. The boat was constructed by the Cultural Heritage Administration for aesthetic purposes only (and for use in skimming detritus off the water), so tourists will have to find some other mode of transportation if they wish to take a shortcut across the pond.
