A little boy looking through a history book sees discussion of dictatorship and torture during the year 1987. The text page talks about "Twenty Years Later." He reads along and asks, "Say daddy, there isn’t anything like torture these days, is there?"

He seems not to notice that his father is scarred by the "torture of skyrocketing real estate prices," the "torture of job insecurity," the "torture of what it costs to educate your children," and the "torture of not knowing if you’re going to survive in retirement."
