A group of poultry farmers hold a rally on February 7 against the potential easing of quarantine regulations on beef imports from the U.S. in front of the National Veterinary Research Quarantine Service, at which the U.S. and Korean delegates are holding talks on related issues. Korea sent back U.S. beef shipments three times last year after finding bone fragments. Bone matter is prohibited under the two nations’ agreements following the January 2006 lifting of a several-years ban of U.S. beef due to fears of so-called mad cow disease.
