BTS continued to write a new chapter in K-pop and Korean music by winning the 2019 Billboard Music Awards’ Top Duo/Group prize, becoming not only the first South Korean group but the first group in all of Asia to receive the award. They beat stiff competition from the likes of Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Panic at the Disco, and Dan + Shay. BTS also won the Top Social Artist award for the third consecutive year.
