In the midst of the joint US-South Korean Vigilant Ace-18 aerial exercises, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that a B1-B Lancer flew from Andersen Air Force base in Guam to stage a mock bombing drill over the Korean Peninsula on Dec. 6. The B1-B is shown flying in formation with two South Korean F-16 and F-15 fighters and two USAF F-35A and F-35B stealth fighters. North Korea has responded angrily to the exercises, with a spokesman saying that, “The large-scale nuclear war exercises conducted by the US in succession are creating a touch-and-go situation on the Korean Peninsula…the remaining question now is: when will the war break out.” (provided by ROK Air Force)
