The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Dec. 11 that the US, South Korea, and Japan had commenced two days of joint missile defense training in the waters off the west coast of Japan. The exercises seek to build coordination among the three countries on responding to North Korea’s rapidly developing missile program, as exhibited by the successful launch of the Hwasong-15 last month.
