Ambassador Virgilio Parades Trapero was inspired by the story of President Moon Jae-in’s adoption of his dog, “Torie” and he decided to follow his example. Last week, on Feb. 7, the Honduran ambassador’s family welcomed a new member, a three year old Maltese named “Doki,” which they adopted from the Seoul Animal Welfare Center in the capital’s Mapo district. Ambassador Trapero showed off the new pet in a photo with his wife, Karen Sierra, and their two children, nine year old Ethan and four year old Derek. “I feel so good to meet a cute puppy like this,” said Ethan.
Meanwhile, there are still plenty of animals at the center which are waiting for adoption. Park Seung-jin, the action officer in charge of animal protection in the Seoul City government, said that, “These pups aren’t being loved, and their original owners didn’t take good care of them.” (by Choi Woo-ri, staff reporter)
