The Carnegie Museum of Art has invited writer Han Kang and video artist Im Heung-soon to submit a joint work for the museum’s 57th international exhibition which will be held in October. “The museum asked Han Kang and myself about a joint art piece, and we have discussed doing so since last year,” Im told Yonhap News on Apr. 16. “It will be a work that deals with the modern and contemporary history of our country. I will announce concrete details soon.”

Han is one of South Korea’s best known novelist, and won the prestigious Man Booker prize for her novel, “The Vegetarian” in 2016. Im won a Silver Lion award at the 2015 Venice Biennale for his documentary, “Factory Complex,” which focused on the labor conditions facing women in textile factories in South Korea and Southeast Asia.
