After meeting with US President Donald Trump for a summit at the White House, South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited the building of the legation for the Great Korean Empire (1897-1905) in Washington, DC, on May 22, which was opened to the public for the first time on the same day. The building is the only overseas building of the Korean Empire that’s preserved in its original condition. It was purchased by the Cultural Heritage Administration and the National Trust for Cultural Heritage in 2012. The photos show the building’s exterior and President Moon and First Lady Kim Jung-sook during a ceremony celebrating the building’s opening.
