[Photo] Former US ambassador to South Korea appointed to direct KEI

Kathleen Stephens, former US ambassador to South Korea, has been approved by the board of director for the Korea Economic Institute of America (KEI) to become its new president. Stephens was the US Ambassador to the Republic of Korea from 2008 to 2011 and has worked in the US Foreign Service for 35 years. She first visited Korea as a Peace Corps volunteer in the 1970s. She is currently the William J. Perry Distinguished Fellow at Stanford University’s Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) and a trustee at the Asia Foundation.
