Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe appeared on a TV program for Yomiuri Telecasting Corp. and expressed intentions to “form a relationship of mutual trust” with North Korea. Abe also indicated that Japanese officials have been in contact with North Korea through the Japanese embassy in Beijing regarding the Japanese abductees currently held in North Korea. “I’d like to break the shell of mutual distrust and move forward,” Abe said, adding that his ultimate goal was a North Korea-Japan summit.
