Seoul has been selected as the winner of the 2018 Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize. The biennial prize, named after the late Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, is often referred to the as the “Nobel Prize” for urban development. It recognizes cities that have made laudable achievements in sustainable development. The above photo pictures Seoul mayor Park Won-soon, who was given a prize of about 30,000 Singapore dollars by Singaporean President Halimah Yacob. The money will be funneled into an urban development project that will invite leaders of sister cities to Seoul.
