Asylum seekers who feel they have been victimized by unfair evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Justice joined civic groups and human rights activists on July 18 in front of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea to call for fairer screenings and more humane treatment. One of them held a sign that read, “Put an end to malignant screenings.” The gathering was in response to recent waves of anti-refugee demonstrations and public sentiment in South Korea.
