Olympic figure skater Denis Ten of Kazakhstan, 25, who was the descendant of the Korean general and independence fighter Min Geung-ho, was stabbed to death in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on July 19. Ten won a bronze medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. He traveled to his great-great grandfather’s grave in Wonju, Gangwon Province, in Apr. of 2014, and posted details of his trip on his Facebook page. The stabbing occurred after thieves tried to steal the mirrors off his car, according to the Kazakh Minister of Culture and Sports Arystanbek Mukhamediuly.
