It is common in many countries to hold naturalization ceremonies where foreign-born residents are granted citizenship and given the official certificates that prove their new status as citizens. Canada holds one every year, while Australia holds ceremonies on a regional level. Singapore holds one every quarter, while the US holds them on a statewide level. The Ministry of Justice has announced that starting Dec. 20, people being naturalized as Koreans or overseas Koreans recovering their citizenship must receive the proper documents at a certain time, date and location.
