The Supreme Court of South Korea ruled that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries needs to pay compensation to the victims of forced labor practices under the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea. The ruling follows a similar one last month that ordered Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corp. to compensate victims. The Japanese government as thus far has maintained that the forced labor was resolved in a 1965 treaty establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries.
