[Photo] US to deploy state of the art anti-ICBM radar to Japan

The Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Jan. 28 that the US plans on deploying a new anti-ICBM radar, the Homeland Defense Radar (HDR), in Japan to keep track of ICBMs from Russia, China and North Korea. The HDR system is designed to track ICBMS heading for the continental US as well as Hawaii and Guam. The Yomiuri Shimbun reported that the US plans on deploying the system to Hawaii by 2023 and to Japan by 2025. The photo shows an Atago missile destroyer in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF).
