In a summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South Korean President Moon Jae-in asserted the importance of the Korean Peninsula “peace process,” and shows his appreciation for Modi’s continued support. Modi arrived in South Korea on Feb. 21 as a state guest, and had a banquet with Moon at Lotte World Tower in Seoul on the day of his arrival. Moon thanked Modi for choosing South Korea as his first overseas visit in 2019 and for his support of the Korean Peninsula peace process, to which Modi responded by proposing the two countries continue to support each other’s development. Modi’s visit was a reciprocal gesture to Moon’s India visit in July 2018.
