Publicly denouncing the unauthorized entry of a Chinese military aircraft into South Korea’s air defense identification zone (KADIZ) on Feb. 23, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) has announced that it has met with a representative of the Chinese Defense Ministry to convey its stern opposition and requested that China works to ensure the prevention of similar incidents in the future. Lee Won-ik, the MND’s director general of international policy, announced that he called for a direct hotline between South Korean and Chinese military authorities and for working-level discussions aimed at preventing potential clashes.
