A South Korean woman who was abducted by armed rebels while traveling in the West African nation of Burkina Faso was rescued by French special forces, along with two French nationals and one American, on May 10. Two French troops died in the firefight that preceded the rescue. Prior to being abducted, the South Korean woman had traveled to Mali, a nation with a “red alert” warning from the South Korean government. She had arrived in Africa via Morocco in January, and was abducted while on her way to the Republic of Benin. The photo shows the woman after arriving in Paris on May 11, with French President Emmanuel Macron in front of her. (AP/Yonhap News)
