The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) summoned a diplomat at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul to formally protest recent statements by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe accusing South Korea of failing to implement sanctions against North Korea. On July 9, MOFA announced it had stated to Japan that the remarks “were completely untrue,” adding it had “expressed its displeasure through diplomatic channels.” (Hankyoreh archives)
