South Korean Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and US Ambassador to South Korea Harry Harris attended an unveiling ceremony for a sculpture symbolizing the South Korea-US alliance at the US Army garrison Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, on July 10. Also in attendance were Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Park Han-ki and US Forces Korea Commander Gen. Robert Abrams. The memorial pays tribute to Operation Chromite, a pivotal operation during the Korean War that helped turn the tide in favor of UN forces, depicting South Korean and US soldiers working together.
