[Photo] S. Korea ranks above Japan in management of strategic trade controls

The Institute for Science and International Security in the US has released its Peddling Peril Index (PPI), which evaluates how the effectiveness of countries’ strategic trade controls, for 2019. The US took first place, followed by the UK and Sweden. South Korea ranked 17th, while Japan lagged behind at 36th place. The report indicates that Japan’s allegations that South Korea poorly manages strategic materials are completely baseless and do not justify its recent export controls.
