While attending the South Korea-Thailand business forum on Sept. 2, South Korean President Moon Jae-in championed free trade, calling for a strategic partnership between the two countries that will allow them both to grow into “manufacturing powerhouses.” He also encouraged Thiland to stand with South Korea “against protectionism,” Moon’s remarks are seen as a response to Japan’s retaliatory trade measures that restrict its exports of strategic materials to South Korea.
