[Photo] Comfort woman exhibit reopens during Aichi Triennale on Oct. 8

The “Statue of a Girl of Peace” exhibit that taken down during the 2019 Aichi Triennale reopened on Oct. 8. Japan’s public broadcaster NHK reported on Oct. 7 that the exhibition “After ‘Freedom of Expression?’” that included “Statue of a Girl of Peace” will resume as part of the triennale, which is expected to run until Oct. 14. The statue is the first comfort woman exhibit to be displayed at a public Japanese art gallery, and has been the target of attacks by Japan’s far right.
