The US Air Force deployed an RC-135U reconnaissance plane from Offutt Air Force base in Nebraska to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, on Oct. 29, according to aircraft tracking site Aircraft Spots. Aircraft Spots posted a photograph of the aircraft at Kadena Air Base after its arrival. The US Air Force currently operates two RC-135Us, which are used for collecting and analyzing radar transmissions. The RC-135U is particularly adept at detecting and observing ballistic missiles, triggering speculation that the deployment is based on concerns of another North Korean missile test.
