A US State Department official accused of forging her resume has resigned. Korean-American Mina Chang, former deputy assistant secretary for the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations, was accused in an NBC report of inflating her resume and faking a Time magazine cover photo. In her resignation letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Chang writes, “Resigning is the only acceptable moral and ethical option for me at this time.” Chang’s resignation is another episode in the State Department crisis resulting from President Trump’s attacks on various diplomats during his impeachment inquiry. In her letter, Chang claims, “the Department of State is experiencing what I and many believe is the worst and most profound moral crisis confronting career professionals and political appointees in the Department's history," casting herself as a victim of media gossip that her superiors failed to defend.
