Seeing stars

A second exam for selecting astronauts was carried out at 8 locations nationwide on September 17. An applicant closes his eyes just before the exam begins in Seoul. Some 36,000 had applied to be among the first group of Korean astronauts; some 3,000 passed the first exam, which consisted of a test of basic physical strength, including 3.5 km running. The second exam is made up of a test of English skills and general knowledge. Applicants must endure three more examinations before final selection is made in April of next year.
