Riot police no longer forced to slurp noodles alfresco

S.K. riot cops to stop chowing down out in the street

The sight of riot policemen eating their meals next to their so-called "chicken coop" mesh-protected buses is a familiar one to Korea's city dwellers. On Wednesday, the National Police Agency said that "because of issues of cleanliness and public aesthetics" it is going to purchase buses that have "more space between seats" so that policemen can eat in their buses instead of next to them.

Riot police, a corps assigned to such potential flash points as demonstrations and foreign embassies, must currently eat their meals outside, lacking proper facilities. This happens whether rain or snow. A lucky few have cloth tents to eat under.
