The Remembering Justice Foundation, a civic group working to find a resolution to the comfort women issue, awarded the “Women’s Human Rights Award” to four comfort women survivors at a ceremony in Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul on Nov. 25. The ceremony coincided with the UN-designated International Day to End Violence against Women. In addition, the group delivered 400 million won (US$367,500) to eight comfort women survivors that was raised during a 100-day fundraising campaign after the women refused to accept funds as part of the controversial December 2015 agreement that was negotiated between the Park Geun-hye administration and the government of Shinzo Abe concerning the issue.
