Following the appointment of Choi Seung-ho – a former producer for the network who had been dismissed nearly 2,000 days ago after a dispute with management – as the new president of MBC, employees at another major Korean broadcaster are calling for new management. During a rally at Gwanghwamun Plaza on Dec. 9, KBS announcer Jeon In-seok stated that, “the Korea Communications Commission should immediately dismiss the chairman of KBS.” KBS employees are currently locked in a bitter dispute with the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Lee In-ho and President Ko Dae-young over political interference at the network.
